Katie Schmid Henson writes under the name Katie Schmid. She is a National Endowment for the Arts fellow in creative writing for 2023, and a member of the inaugural cohort of Haymarket Books and the Mellon Foundation’s Writing Freedom Fellowship, a fellowship designed to support writers impacted by the criminal justice system. Her debut book, Nowhere, was released from the University of New Mexico Press.
